Home Theater Room
Choosing Your Home Theater Room
There was a time when we did not have to think about what room the television would go into
in order to enjoy it. The television was best served in the living room at that time. There were only a few
channels to decide on watching and it turned off at midnight. Those were the days when everyone thought television
was a nice idea but it would not last. Well here it is the twenty first century and the television has grown into a
home theatre. We no longer worry about what room we will watch television in, instead we think about what room we
will use to build a home theatre. Will we add a room onto the house? If we are building a new house will be have
the architect add a room for a home theatre or, will we use and existing room, the basement or attic? Whatever the
choice, it can now be done.
Any room can be used as the home theatre but, you have to have a plan, you
should have a professional installer with audio and video experience and the plan should be realistic for
comfort and performance. There are some things you should consider, for instance, the shape of the room; it
should be rectangular and the ceiling should be high for better acoustics. The high ceiling is best when a
video projector will be installed. It is also a good idea to avoid rooms with windows. However, there is no
reason not use a square room with windows if that is the only space you have to work with because flat panel
TVs and built in speakers can make any room a home theatre. It does take more work and a few compromises to
make these imperfect rooms into a theatre shape.
Ideally the perfect home theatre can be had if the room is constructed from scratch. It could be an addition to
your house. There is nothing in your way but your budget. If new construction is not feasible, than look at
something you already have like your basement or attic. These may have to be restructures and redesigned but the
results can be superb.
In the end, there are some homes where every inch of the house is used and cannot be spared for just one thing
such as a dedicated home theatre system. In that case, you can use the family room, the master bedroom or a den to
make your home theatre. The rooms are already furnished so you will not have to buy new seating, Besides, the
family room is used every day where the home theatre may only used on week ends so you are not wasting space.
In conclusion, a dedicated new space or a dedicated existing space is always the best for your home theatre
design but, if your budget does not permit it then use the space that you have. If your existing space is
rectangular and has a high ceiling than it is ideal. However, any room can be adaptable. It is suggested that you
use an electronics professional to help you with your home theatre design and installation.
